The next gen tablet from Apple is set to be released pretty soon. New iPad 3 rumors suggest A6 processor and March release besides a host of other new features

The most recent update on iPad 3 is the leaked details on Boy Genius Report that claims that the third generation tablet by Apple can come with A6 chip in it. The report, besides showing four pictures of debugging code from a source, also states that the unnamed source claims to have got their hands on the iPad.

The report mentions two models of the iPad that include the A6 processor and a quad-core chip.

BGR further adds that the two models are not actually two iPads, but the same iPad with two functionalities as is common to have – one is with just Wi-Fi and another with Wi-Fi and cellular networking. The second model also includes a chip that supports GSM and CDMA, as well as 4G LTE. These details have been declared by the BGR have no backing in the pictures as nowhere the four pictures indicate at these last two details.

However, despite a lack of further proof of the specs, the report seems credible because compatibility with 4G networks is expected in the next gen iPad. Besides, with Qualcomm’s recently announced Gobi 4000 chip and iPad 3 is expected to come out with extraordinary faster speed. It was also reported in Bloomberg that a month back that the iPad 3 would be the first device from Apple to feature the faster speeds. Bloomberg report also talked about the quad-core chip, so this is a double verification of the rumour.

BGR shots show the chips labeled S5L8945X, with Apple’s existing A5 and A4 chips going by S5L8940X and S5L8930X respectively. Since Apple has improved the processing speed with both iPad models, and all its iPhones, it is safe to conclude that Apple will not launch its much-anticipated next iPhone with an old speed processor.

So by March we can safely expect to lay our eyes on the new iPad. Besides the notched up processor, the next iPad is also expected to have higher-resolution display and even better cameras. Since the introductions are reported to precede the launch about a month, we can have Apple announcing the next iPad anytime now. But there are no solid reports to back this conjecture.

The only quotable part of the BGR happens to be the subscript with the four pictures of “output from an iPad 3 using a development and debug tool called iBoot.”

These screengrabs then go on to add about the two versions of iPad as, “one with WiFi only and one with WiFi and embedded GSM/CDMA/LTE for all carriers.”

With the impressive numbers of having sold 15.43 million units of iPads in the last quarter alone, the next generation tablet is expected with great alacrity by the business world as well as the tablet market.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO told the media, “There is cannibalization clearly of the Mac by the iPad, but we continue to believe there is much more cannibalization of Windows PCs by the iPad, and there’s many more of them to cannibalize. And so we love that trend.”

Moreover, T. Michael Walkley, an analyst with Canaccord Genuity, wrote in a recent research note, “Our checks indicate modest sales of most competing tablet offerings, including the Motorola Xyboard, RIM PlayBook, HTC View 4G, Samsung Galaxy tab and several other Android-based devices. Also consistent with our checks, the Amazon Kindle Fire did not adversely impact iPad sales, but more likely had a greater impact on e-reader sales.”
